We are retiring our Instagram feature.

by Alexis Serneels

Discontinuing our Instagram feature is an unwanted but logical move to perform. It's all happening because of Instagram API & Policy changes.

We announced it in April when Instagram suddenly surprised everyone by making radical API changes overnight. We had to quickly make changes in our code and adapt to new restrictions set in place by Instagram.

On December 11th, 2018, Instagram will remove permission to all users except Business Account to search for a specific hashtag using their public API. It means that unless you've been a specific process to get your account validated, you won't be able to enter a hashtag and get instant results for it.

We are working with a lot of different profiles, from business owners to event venues to communication agencies offering Social Walls to their client. We think this Instagram Business Account restriction doesn't go along with the experience we want to provide our clients. We want your experience to be straightforward and as simple as possible.

We think Twitter still shares this vision and we value their decision, while Facebook (aka Instagram) is moving to a weird place.

As a result, we've decided to discontinue Instagram search feature within LiveTweetApp. We are getting back to our roots. We are focusing on the "tweet" part of our name. Simple as that.

Instagram search will be removed from our platform on Monday 10th, 2018, 10:00 am UTC. If you've purchased a Pro Package and were planning to use the Instagram feature for an upcoming event, please contact us for a refund.

We are sorry for our current customers relying on Instagram results. Hard choices need to be made.

Thank you for your comprehension. See you on Twitter.
